A Message from Executive Director Nelson Cook

Why We Do What We Do

Our goal in reaching coaches with the gospel, encouraging and strengthening them, is grounded in solid reasons. School populations are declining, respect for authority is being challenged, and safety, mental health issues, and an “I don’t care” attitude are all on the rise. Coaches stand in a unique place to let the light of Christ shine.

Highlights from the 2025 COIN Golf Challenge

This year’s event had our highest attendance yet — both on the course and at the banquet. We were blessed with inspiring music from the Hungrymen Band, and an engaging message from our guest speaker, Dave DesRochers, former NFL football player.

Coach Spotlight: Fred DiPalma

Fred DiPalma, a longtime COIN leader at Katella High School and Valencia High School, shares his story:

“COIN has been an important part of my coaching experience. Being able to meet with other coaches and talk about issues that affect our lives is extremely important. As a coach—especially a head coach—you often feel alone or isolated, but with COIN, you always feel part of a group that truly cares about you—not just as a coach, but as a person and a Christian.

Studying the Bible as part of the COIN Fellowship is such a blessing because it gives us the opportunity to share wisdom from Scripture that applies directly to our coaching lives. It really helps me stay balanced as a coach who wants to be competitive, while also understanding the most important role we have in our schools.

Thank God for Nelson, Scott, and all the leaders in the COIN Ministry who take the time to meet with us. I encourage any coach working with young people to be part of COIN and join a small group. It will strengthen your life—both as a coach and as a Christian.”

“Your life as a Christian should make nonbelievers question their disbelief.”

— Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Our new COIN T-shirts say “Give ‘em Heaven” on the back. That’s our challenge to coaches in their daily lives.

Your partnership empowers this ministry to reach coaches and transform lives through the Gospel. We are grateful for you, and we pray that Jesus is glorified in all we do together.

Give ‘em Heaven,

Nelson Cook
