We are always looking for coaches to join us in our mission to reach, encourage, and strengthen other coaches. Please contact us if you want to be a part of what God is doing in and through us. Work from home, where you are, with the coaches you are already involved with or go to a new area where you feel God is leading you.

He knew they had tremendous influence with kids, but they also had many challenges, burdens, and pressures on them and their families.
As the Lord put on his heart a ministry to coaches (all sports, all levels), a plan to develop it began to emerge in late 1996. Nelson shared the vision with a close and special friend, Terry Franson, V.P. of Student Affairs at Azusa Pacific University. Terry suggested that he meet with Steve Quatro, Director of Sports Outreach Los Angeles (SOLA). Steve thought the vision was a terrific idea. A couple of people from the SOLA Board met with Steve, Nelson, and Terry, and they formulated a plan to start COIN (COaches of INfluence) under the banner of SOLA in January 1997. The first official Coaches Fellowship began in March of 1997. In November of 2004, COIN became an official 501c3 tax exempt corporation, independent of Sports Outreach Los Angeles. COIN has a Board of Directors who are fully bought into Nelson’s leadership and vision to reach coaches.

I also found time to run clinics at Dulles Elementary School, where my kids attended, for programs like Red Ribbon Week, and served with La Mirada AYSO as a coach and referee. I helped consult on the formation of the La Mirada Soccer Association.
Our 3 boys, Joshua, Benjamin, and Luke went through La Mirada public schools: Dulles Elementary, Benton Middle School, and La Mirada High School. All three were in the top 20 of their class and have gone on to attend Point Loma University, Biola University, and Westmont College.
In 2006 I was hired as a director for the Brea Soccer Association. In the past 14 years I have revolutionized their city soccer programs, taking them from obscurity, conflict, and lack of vision to a strong vision and focus on our 5 core values: Commitment, Competence, Community, Character, and Celebration. Today, BSA thrives and works very well with the city and other youth sports programs. In addition to BSA I own and run the largest adult soccer league in Southern California, SoCal Premier. When I joined them in 2002 we had 18 teams, now we run a league of over 90 youth, men’s, women’s, and co-ed teams. In 2016 I formed my own business, The Ballfarm, LLC; a consulting business that serves the needs of players, coaches, referees, teams, clubs, and leagues (theballfarm.com).
In 2013 I transitioned to the non-profit, Coaches of Influence, where I currently serve as the International Director. I have traveled to over 25 countries to work with and train local coaches, soccer clubs, churches, and missionaries in using sport as a community outreach.
